The FOI Network
The FOI Network is a currently an informal coalition of civil society organisations, journalists and academics with an interest in freedom of information in the UK. Those involved include requesters and those with a wider interest in policy around FOI and government ethics and transparency.
The group provides a space to share information and insights on FOI, and to plan and coordinate future activity (for example, events and policy work).
In February 2026, we hosted FOI Fest – see more information below.
In April and May 2026, as part of a JRRT-funded project, we explored expanding and formalising the FOI Network and its activities through a series of workshops. Here are summaries of these:
- How might an FOI Network encourage the protection and expansion of Freedom of Information in the UK?
- How could an FOI Network support journalists and specialist users?
- How could an FOI Network support Freedom of Information delivery and practice?
If you/your organisation are interested in being part of this wider FOI Network, and being involved in exploration activities, please enter your details in this Google form.
