Outreach & Networks Coordinator

Siôn joined us in 2021 as part of the Climate team, where he’s overseeing the all-important mission of reaching out and building contacts across many different networks and communities.

“I work to ensure that potential beneficiaries — including local authority officers and councillors and individual citizens — learn about and get maximum benefit from our work, and that we scope projects that complement and support them. This includes outreach to climate organisations who need evidence and data to support their advocacy and campaigning.

“I also support journalists and policy researchers as a key user group, giving them a more accessible evidence base on local climate action to use in work which will reach a wider audience.”

Siôn came to us after a long stint at Friends of the Earth, during which time he worked across multiple campaigns, advocating for everything from bees to trees.

Based in Caerdydd, Siôn has played basketball for Wales; “I also played rugby on the hallowed turf of Cardiff Arms Park and came away with a Welsh Schoolboy’s Cup medal and all my teeth intact. And I’ve played trumpet with the South Glamorgan Youth Brass Band… and less illustrious ensembles.”

In his spare time, Siôn is a bit of a foodie. “Having worked in kitchens for a while I consider myself to be a recovering chef and I now blog about rediscovering my love of food using that moniker.” If that sounds appealing, you can find the link at the side of this page.

Siôn is fluent in: Iaith y nefoedd (also known as Welsh, “the language of heaven”), management jargon and environmental acronyms.
