Events and Engagement Manager

Rachel joined mySociety in 2022 as maternity cover. She’s taking over the management of all our events from team meetings to conferences, but with a particular focus on the TICTeC Labs project and developing events with the Climate team.

As with so many organisations, it’s a pivotal time for mySociety while we begin to move out of the strictures imposed by Covid: a crucial part of Rachel’s job will be to support the team as we move back into running and attending some in-person events, while embracing the challenges and opportunities of hybrid events.

Rachel explains, “Through a career which has involved working for universities, charities and as a freelance musician and teacher, I came to specialise in events management – including education conferences and a series of musicians’ wellbeing workshops which I rapidly adapted from in-person to online events in early 2020!”

Located in Sheffield, Rachel fills her spare time with “Lots of music – I play flute in a range of settings from local orchestras to pit bands in theatres, to recently recording with a local electronic/dance music producer. My other happy places are in a dance class (I’ve been doing ballet since I was three and will happily give any style a try) and outdoors, especially by the sea.”

Rachel is fluent in: music theory, writing risk assessments
