User Support Officer

If you send us a question about one of our services, the chances are that the reply will come from Georgia, who joined the mySociety team in May 2023.

It’s her job to read, then respond to or forward on the emails that come in from our users every day.

“I love to solve problems,” says Georgia, “so I’m also always looking for ways to improve processes to make the user experience more seamless”.

She brings useful experience, having previously provided customer support for an online education company.

Like everyone working at mySociety, Georgia’s interests and activities bring extra insights to our work. She has an LLB in Law with European Law from University of Nottingham.

“For two years I ran the ‘Unbarred’ project as part of the Pro Bono Society at university. This project took student volunteers to prisons to deliver disclosure workshops to inmates. We aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of their rights upon leaving prison to help give them the best shot at rehabilitation.

“And I’m currently completing a Masters in International Law and Global Governance. My thesis investigates the link between neoliberalism and climate action paralysis.”

Located in the East Midlands, Georgia also finds time for hobbies: “I love to draw, particularly pencil portraits; I am hugely inspired by the work and life of Frida Kahlo. I also enjoy learning more about countries and cultures around the world. I am a frequent visitor to the Sporcle geography quiz website which has helped me learn the whereabouts of all the countries and flags of the world – and I’m now working on the capital cities.”

And she’s not just an armchair traveller. “I studied abroad for a year in Copenhagen which instigated a real passion for cinnamon rolls and responsible environmental practices.”

Georgia is fluent in: “Saying this is the year I learn Spanish but ignoring the app notifications reminding me to practice.”
