NHS Postcode Lottery

Describe your idea:

A website collating the various decisions, policies and practices of Primary Care Trusts, Hospitals, Surgeries and other institutions which result in the “Postcode Lottery” present in NHS healthcare.

Data for the site could be obtained from organisations by making freedom of information act requests, as well as crowd-sourcing from users.

What problem does it solve?:

Currently the raw data on what exactly comprises the “Postcode lottery” is inaccessible. Making the data available would assist those trying to get rid of unacceptable inconsistencies; and may also help healthcare providers share best practice.

I do not want to see an entirely uniform service across the nation; variety has its benefits and we need to capitalise on those by identifying both poor and good practice and acting on what we find.

Type of idea: A brand new project
