mySociety has developed many websites since its inception in 2003. Some of these grow to become lasting, ever-evolving projects. Others are minor in comparison.
But all start from the same principles of civic and community involvement, and even the smaller projects often go on to inform more ambitious successors.
PledgeBankPledgeBank works on the principle of peer pressure, by creating a platform where people can say, “I’ll do something, but only if other people will too.” Try it – it works!
No 10 Petitions WebsiteBuilt by mySociety for the Prime Minister’s office, this was probably the largest non-partisan democracy website ever. It has now been retired by the present government, but the thinking behind it helped us create our petitions for local councils software.
A simple but effective website that directs people to their local council’s online petition site. We’ve found they’re sometimes well-hidden, and often under-populated, but we hope that this small site will change that, at least a bit.
Democracy ClubDemocracy Club is an independent, volunteer-run website, supported by mySociety, that acts as a hub where non-technical volunteers can help deliver civic society projects.
Simple tasks contribute to large-scale projects, such as a complete candidate database from the May 2010 UK general election.
