If you have any questions about our new funding arrangement, please leave them here and we'll do our best to answer for you.
What has happened?
mySociety is being awarded £250,000 by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), in response to a bid we made in partnership with West Sussex County Council just before Christmas.
Who is giving the money?
The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister runs something called the e-innovations fund, a new funding stream to search out and promote innovative uses of ICT. We are just one winner from 34 announced this week. For the full details, see
ODPM News Release,
Support for e-Innovations and
West Sussex County Council - The mySociety Partnership.
What are you going to do with it?
We are planning to build our launch projects, as announced last Christmas. See them on the FrontPage. We have budgets and plans, but we have to go through a lot of discussions with our partner authority and ODPM before we know exactly what will be built, when and by whom.
What is this partnership?
The e-innovations fund is not actually open for non-government bodies to bid for. We therefore had to 'buddy up' with a local authority in order to apply. We chose West Sussex County Council, who have a great reputation in the e-government field, and they agreed to partner with us.
The West Sussex view...
West Sussex CC is very pleased to have this exciting opportunity to work with mySociety.org. I believe we will break some new ground for local authorities and the way in which they and their communities engage with each other. The next step will be to complete a project description document so we all know exactly what we are going to build and achieve over the next year or so. Roland Mezulis
