Cyclist roads complaint site
Many cyclists find that roads and urban spaces are difficult and unpleasant to use. One submission suggested a site on which cyclists could make complaints about problems and dangers for cyclists related to different streets and junctions.
Questions:
Is there much demand for such a service?
Would recording the data have much impact?
Workshop Comments:
"Shouldn?t people just contact their councils?"
"Talk to London Cycling Campaign"
"Perhaps cyclist groups could answer wether there is demand"
"Ease of submitting info crucial. On the move preferably"
"This is a piggy back project on top of FaxYourCouncillor"
"Highlight hot spots for accidents"
"Needs council attention ? should be part of local community site"

Pretty sure LCC (Southwark branch?) have publicised a phone-line for cyclist complaints - so worth talking to them. Also need to ensure that there's a willingness to act on information collected - maybe a prioritisation process would help with this - "top of the list is X junction, which 48 people have complained about..." etc.
"Talk to London Cycling Campaign" - I live in Sheffield. What good is talking to the LCC going to do me? As for "cyclist groups", there's a huge number of cyclists - commuting and recreational - who are not part of any formal group, and wouldn't know where to start in terms of contacting their council to complain. However, this project could help enormously, with periodic submissions to relevant councils regarding specific problems, e.g., "48 people have complained about this junction being dangerous"
