Rewrite WriteToThem confirmation email to be less scary
"The emails we send for people to confirm there message are getting quite unfriendly. They are full of caveats, and crisp statements that have built up over time. Rewrite them, to convey the same information, but more cheerily, less intimidatingly, and perhaps shorter.
There are two messages.
One sent immediately you write your message, and
one sent as a reminder the day later.
Immediate Message
Sample 1
The message below is written by Oliver Gaywood.
Hello and thanks for your letter for <?=$values['recipient_name']?>.
We’ve attached it to the bottom of this e-mail for you to check over one last time - all you need to do to send this message to your <?=$values['recipient_position']?> is to click on this confirmation link.
<?=$values['confirm_url']?>
(If your e-mail program does not let you click on this link, just copy and paste it into your web browser and press return.)
Once you’ve done this, we'll fire your letter off to <?=$values['recipient_name']?>. If for some reason we can't send your message, or it doesn't get through, we’ll e-mail you a copy of your message so you can contact your <?=$values['recipient_position']?> by more traditional, albeit less fun, means.
However, if you’ve decided that your message doesn’t properly convey your feelings you can still back out – just ignore this e-mail and your message will be deleted; gone forever.
If you don’t know why you’ve been sent this e-mail it probably means someone else gave us your e-mail address. Please let us know by sending an e-mail to
team@writetothem.com

Thanks for choosing WriteToThem.com to send <?=$values['recipient_name']?> a letter. We’ve included a copy below, so you have another chance to check what you wrote.
If you’re happy for us to send this to your <?=$values['recipient_position']?> then use the link below – click on it, or paste it into your browser:
<?=$values['confirm_url']?>
If you decide not to send the letter after all, you don’t need to do a thing – your letter will expire and we’ll delete it
If you're still sitting there, wondering why we’re writing to you, it’s probably because someone wrongly gave us your email address. You can drop us a line at
team@writetothem.com so we won’t bother you any further.
You can also get in touch with any comments, issues or suggestions. Please write to
team@writetothem.com, because just hitting Reply would leave your email gathering dust somewhere.
We’re happy to help you, and happy to hear from you
-- from the team at WriteToThem.com
NB: If we have any trouble sending your letter to your <?=$values['recipient_position']?>, we’ll email you a copy back, so you can still try to reach them in the old fashioned way.
Sample 2 author's notes
I did not find it easy to make this flow - because it has several different actions for readers to choose, it is not easy to put into paragraphs. I got a bit stuck on the last bit, as I did not understand why you might know to have failed to get the message through to the representative.
