Call For Proposals 2009 » The Peoples Thinktank

By Michael Scott

Describe your idea:

A site where people can submit policy proposals for politicians.
Users could vote to support, or oppose ideas with the most popular being shown at the top of the sites own rankings.

Politicians from all parties would then be able to progress the idea through parliament, any or all parties could adopt each idea.

What problem does it solve?:

People have ideas to improve public life every day; many of them are rubbish, but why should the good be the preserve of think tanks?

This idea would democratise policy, any party could adopt a policy and cross party support may be easier to achieve because traditional ‘ownership’ and party lines would be less clear.

Type of idea: A brand new project

I think the best idea’s i’ve seen in this years proposals this year are one’s like this, where the public get a vote on things normally reserved for the politicians.
