WordPress upgrade

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006 by Francis Irving

I’ve just upgraded WordPress from 1.5 to 2.0.3 on this site. Let me know if anything has broken. Particularly, if you could try posting a comment.

Why the upgrade? We didn’t need any of the new features (just a shiny new look admin dashboard as far as I can tell!). The upgrade was for security fixes – see Anatomy of an XSS exploit for details.

We’d made a few changes to the core WordPress files. Unfortunately, I couldn’t just generate a diff of those changes from CVS, as the site wasn’t in CVS when we first installed WordPress (back in November 2004). Luckily, even though it is well hidden, there is an archive of old versions of WordPress I could use to diff against.
