What NEED does this meet?
One thing about the people in the Uk is that they love to complain about issues but when it comes to taking to the streets in protest it rarley come to anything. This site would allow people to propose issues such as Pensions, Building Works 2012, Conflicts (Iraq) and others for an eProtest. Visitors to the site could sign up and express there views on there chosen subject. I believe in the 21st century we would see a much greater representation of the public to this type of initiative than the physical protests held mainly in the Capital requiring great planning and effort by attendees accross the country.
Once a particular issue reaches a critical mass it could be pushed towards the political and media arena.
What is the APPROACH?
My approach is distinctive in that currently if you are wishing to protest / make yourself heard about several issue you need to join 1,2 or more protest groups. To do this you need to know the where abouts this group operates and how to contact them.
This Idea puts all the potential protest issues in one place with the chance to sign up to 1 or all of them, providing links to relevant data and email updates..
What are the BENEFITS to people?
Benefits are that it will open up the idea of making a united statement to people who make decisions on or behalf more accessible to ALL – the old, infirm, disabled and those who cannot, for all sorts of reasons, make a physical appearance at an event.
This site would allow politicians and the like to see the strength of opposition to plans or decisions being made on behalf of the public and potentially influence the way decision making is made.
What is the COMPETITION?
Because of its simplicity… Its a 1 stop shop for the public to air there disgreement with decisions being made on there behalf.
If the Issue is not already on the site the user can sign up and add it.. then wait to see if it gains support.
What BUDGETS & LOGISTICS are required?
The cost will be assosiated with – Hosting the site and development costs. Once the site is up and running it should run itself (support and Maint excluded of course). It could be set to automatically respond to certain flags which trigger events such as emails etc…
Publicity would be nice too… but once one of the eProtest hits a critical mass this will enevitable come and the site should be self propelling.
